7. Traumatic bone cyst
Alternative title: Simple bone cyst
Description: Well-delineated radiolucent lesion with
projections between the roots of the vital premolar and molar teeth
producing a scalloped appearance
Location: Body of the posterior mandible beneath the roots of the second premolar and first and second molars
MESH Subject Headings: Pathology, Oral; Bone Cysts; Mandible -- pathology Type of abnormality: radiographic

Location: Posterior left mandible in the area of the missing tooth #19
MESH Subject Headings: Pathology, Oral; Mandible -- pathology; Type of abnormality: radiographic
9. Ameloblastoma
Description: Large multilocular radiolucent lesion of the posterior body and ramus of the mandible
Location: Posterior body and ramus of the mandible, left side
MESH Subject Headings: Pathology, Oral; Ameloblastoma;
Mandible -- pathology Type of abnormality: radiographic
10. Odontogenic keratocyst
Description: Large well-delineated multilocular
radiolucent lesion of the body of the mandible. Note the displaced
unerupted permanent teeth.
Location: Body of the left mandible extending from the anterior teeth to the first molar
MESH Subject Headings: Pathology, Oral; Odontogenic Cysts; Mandible -- pathology Type of abnormality: radiographic
11. Central giant cell granuloma
Description: Large radiolucent lesion with scalloped
borders of the body of the mandible. Note the root resorption of
involved teeth.
Location: Body of the right mandible extending from the anterior teeth to the first molar
MESH Subject Headings: Pathology, Oral; Giant Cell Granuloma; Mandible -- pathology Type of abnormality: radiographic
12. Osteomyelitis
Alternative title: Acute osteomyelitis; Osteomyelitis acute

Location: Left body and ramus of the mandible
MESH Subject Headings: Pathology, Oral; Osteomyelitis; Mandible -- pathology Type of abnormality: radiographic
13. Periapical cemento-osseous dysplasia
Description: Circumscribed mixed radiolucent and radiopaque lesions at the apical area of the lower anterior teeth
Location: Periapical area of lower anterior teeth
MESH Subject Headings: Pathology, Oral; Mandible -- pathology; Type of abnormality: radiographic
14. Florid cemento-osseous dysplasia
Description: Multiple mixed radiopaque and radiolucent lesions of the mandible and maxilla
Location: Entire body of the mandible and areas of the maxillary alveolar ridge
MESH Subject Headings: Pathology, Oral; Bone Diseases; Mandible -- pathology Type of abnormality: radiographic
15. Tori
Alternative title: Mandibular tori; Tori mandibular
Description: Bilateral mandibular tori superimposed on
the roots of the canine teeth on the radiograph appear as round smooth
surfaced radiopaque structures
Location: Mandibular lingual alveolar ridge bilaterally in the area of premolars
MESH Subject Headings: Pathology, Oral; Exostoses; Mandible --pathology Type of abnormality: radiographic
16. Root tip
Description: Radiopaque area of the alveolar ridge with
the structural appearance of the apical portion of a tooth root. A thin
periodontal ligament space is visible on the distal. Note the
similarity of the radiodensity of the root tip and the adjacent
premolar root
Location: Mandibular alveolar ridge distal to the root of the second premolar
MESH Subject Headings: Pathology, Oral; Tooth Root; Mandible --pathology Type of abnormality: radiographic
17. Condensing osteitis
Description: Localized area of increased radiodensity of
the alveolar bone extending from the apical portion of the distal root
into the underlying bone forming a bulbous appearing radiodense mass.
